Our Hub Appeal

We meet individuals daily who are struggling to live well with dementia. The Dementia Support Hub will offer a complete service for individuals and carers.

Together with our partner organisations, we have come together to design a Hub which will bring together key services, care and information, such as:

  • Memory Assessment Centre – provided jointly by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Alzheimer’s Society the hub will house five consulting rooms. The hub is the first port of call for those concerned about memory loss. Having been referred by their GP they will be seen at the hub and be given a formal diagnosis of dementia should that be the case.
  • Day Care – there is a lack of appropriate day care for those living with dementia in our area and we will offer a range of day care options for individuals from regular visits to respite sessions.
  • Well-being – A range of complementary therapies and support services will be available to enable individuals to access treatments such as hair and beauty, chiropody, hearing and vision tests and massage to maintain personal self-esteem and an enhanced feeling of well-being.
  • Information, Advice and Guidance – A growing service which will enable individuals, carers and families to navigate the sometimes-complex world of social care.

Without the Dementia Support Hub, many families and individuals will continue to feel isolated throughout the difficult and ever-changing journey of dementia.

We can then redevelop Salisbury House Tangmere into a purpose-built, dementia-specific building and initiate planned services with our partner organisations in Spring 2018.

The Dementia Support Hub could be a landmark development in the provision of community support services and we hope this will be a model that can be replicated in other parts of the region and perhaps nationally.
