The Big Give Christmas Challenge for Dementia Support
One gift, twice the impact to support people coping with dementia this Christmas
Helen Ison – Fundraiser
Dementia Support is excited to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge this year for the very first time. It starts at MIDDAY on Tuesday 1st December 2020 and, for one week only, every donation made ONLINE through our Big Give Christmas Challenge page will be DOUBLED!
So if you give £10, which would be a fantastic contribution to help fund ourlife-changing dementia services, it will be DOUBLED to £20 and go even further to support people struggling with dementia this Christmas and beyond.
How can my donation help this Christmas?
Your Big Give donation could help us reach more local people like Rosemary and David, who didn’t know about Dementia Support’s services here in Tangmere during the first lockdown, as Rosemary remembers:
“I spent lockdown, for four or five months, going out with David 20 times per day, with his fixation on the car [David used to be a mechanic]. And unfortunately, he was getting up in the night, and undoing doors, and leaving them open. In the end I didn’t go to bed, because I was so worried.
“It was hell, absolute hell. By the time we found out about Sage House, I was at the end.You feel that you’re the only one, but you’re not. It’s so rife, shall we say – other people are experiencing what I’ve experienced.”
It’s incredible how Rosemary coped during the first lockdown, without knowing when life would return to some sort of normality. Since finding out about Sage House, the couple have met with their dedicated Wayfinder, Louisa, on a regular basis, and she has helped them work through some of the issues they were facing.
During the second lockdown, Louisa continues to support them over the phone, and Rosemary says, “To be able to talk to somebody, it makes a great deal of difference.”
Our Wayfinder service offerspersonalised, ongoing support to every customer, which is entirely free and open to all. By taking part in theBig Give Christmas Challenge, you could help offer a lifeline to an individual, couple or family struggling to cope with dementia this Christmas.
With your help, we hope to raise £12,500 during the Big Give week, which will be DOUBLED by match funding to £25,000. It’s an ambitious target, but with the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic, every penny is desperately needed. One gift – twice the impact.
How doImake a donation?
To take part, your donation must be made viaDementia Support’s campaign page on theBig Give website, between MIDDAY on Tuesday 1 December and MIDDAY on Tuesday 8 December. All donations will be DOUBLED during the week, up to our target of £12,500. Donations from businesses, community groups and Trusts are all very welcome – the only criteria is they have to be made online before midday 8 December.
Any donations made beyond this amount will still be gratefully received to help fund our services, and will make us eligible to win a Big Give Award. Any donations made after the deadline via our website won’t be eligible for match funding but will still go towards our Christmas Appeal 2020.
Please help us reach our target of £25,000 to support people struggling to cope with dementia this Christmas.
